Maryland Hunting Guide and Outfitter Muddy Marsh Outfitters
“HUNT THE MARSH”:
Muddy Marsh Outfitters invites you to come share a memorable outdoor experience with us on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Located in Dorchester County, we offer some of the most unique deer hunting available east of the Mississippi. Hunting the wild Sika deer is a rewarding and fulfilling experience that one will not soon forget.
Muddy Marsh Outfitters is a group of dedicated bowhunters catering only to bowhunters. The stand sites consist of baited permanent locations as well as portable stand allowing one to move with the rutting stags.
Accommodations are available on the property.
We are looking forward to hunting with you this season.
Maryland’s Sika deer have a very interesting history. Most records show that a small number of Sika were released on James Island in 1916. Since then, their numbers have increased dramatically, widely spreading through Dorchester County.
The Sika is a close relative to the New World Elk, native of Asia, we like to call them the “Poor Man’s Elk.” The Sika is very vocal. Bugling stags and chirping does closely duplicate the Rocky Mountain Elk.
Boggy marshes and swamps are what the Sika calls home. The steady KPLOOSH-KPLOOSH of hooves in water is sometimes the only warning that a Sika is approaching one’s stand.
The Sika doe averages 45-50 pounds, a trophy stag around 85-90 pounds with 5-6 point racks sweeping towards its rump.
Hunting the elusive Sika is an affordable means of reaching a high expectation in a challenging bow hunt. We hope you come and join us!
